Pan Celtic Festival Activities 2012

OPEN MEETING TO REVIEW THE PAN CELTIC FESTIVAL

Now that the dust has settled on what is being acclaimed as Carlow’s finest festival and to build on the momentum still in the community, an open meeting to review the Pan Celtic festival will take place on the evening of Tuesday 24th April at 6pm in the Seven Oaks Hotel. The meeting will afford the opportunity to review and assess the organization and the events of Pan Celtic while putting initial plans in motion for next year’s festival which will take place one week earlier from 2nd – 7th April 2013.

A céad míle fáilte is extended to all to come along to the evening’s meeting whether involved in this year’s festival or wishing to become involved in the preparations for next year when Carlow will once again host the six day international festival. Pan Celtic will then move to Derry for 2014 and 2015.

Workshops and Trad Session Trail

As part of the Pan Celtic Festival we are delighted to offer a series of music and dance workshops by some of Ireland’s most renowned musicians and dancers. Workshops are open to all levels of musicians. If you have ever had an interest in learning some Traditional Irish music or dance these workshops cannot be missed. Pupils should arrive at 9.30am for registration and will be divided into their class of choice. Candidates should bring a snack and a 30 minute break will be taken at 11.15am. A performance by the students and tutors will take place in Dinn Rí at 3pm and everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy our newly acquired tunes and dances! These classes promise to be a fun and informative morning.

A fantastic trad session trail also awaits festival goers with sessions taking place every day of the festival at locations throughout the town. These have been organised to complement the Pan Celtic Festival Programme. Please see www.panceltic/fringe.ie for information and booking details for both the WORKSHOPS and the SESSION TRAIL .
